Bone grafting

When your jaw needs rebuilding before implants

Dental implants need solid bone to anchor into. When teeth have been missing for a while, the bone that once held them can shrink, and in the upper back jaw the sinus can sit too low to place an implant safely. Bone grafting and sinus lifts solve exactly that: they rebuild or make room for bone so a strong, lasting implant can go in. If another dentist has told you implants are not possible, this is often the reason, and often the answer.

How it works

What each procedure does

Bone grafting adds volume where bone has been lost, creating a stable base for dental implants.
Sinus lift gently raises the sinus floor in the upper jaw to make room for implants at the back.
Guided planning with on-site CBCT 3D imaging maps your bone precisely before anything begins.

How much does bone grafting cost in Bromley?

It depends on how much rebuilding is needed, which we can only judge after a scan. As a guide, a CBCT scan is £145 for a single jaw or £195 for both, and grafting is quoted once we have assessed you. Larger implant journeys can be spread over 12 months at 0% interest through Tabeo from around £245 pounds a month.

After exploring many surgeries, I chose Bella Dental due to the reasonable pricing and up to the minute treatment rooms and equipment. Michael called me minutes after emailing my enquiry, which I was impressed with. He was very personable and instilled confidence. I had implants for my front teeth. I am very happy with the final result. If I needed advice or had any concerns regarding healing, they would see me that day or the very next. The receptionists and support staff, Donatella and Chloe are all lovely and the whole experience is relaxed and pleasant. The surgery is so clean and looks like a Spa!I highly recommend the team at Bella Dental

Frequently asked questions about bone grafting and sinus lifts

Everything patients usually ask before starting their treatment. Can't see your question? We're happy to talk it through.

Why do I need a bone graft for implants?

Because implants need enough healthy bone to hold them securely. If bone has shrunk after tooth loss, grafting rebuilds it so the implant can succeed long-term.

Does it hurt?

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during it. Most people manage afterwards with ordinary painkillers, and we send you home with comfort care.

How long before I can have my implants?

It varies, but the grafted area usually needs a few months to heal and mature before implants go in. Dr Boulis will give you a realistic timeline after your scan.

Is it done here or referred out?

Here. Grafting, sinus lifts and the implants themselves are all carried out at the practice by Dr Boulis, with our on-site CBCT for planning.

I was told I can’t have implants. Is that final?

Not necessarily. A lack of bone is one of the most common reasons for a no, and it is often exactly what grafting resolves. Book a free consultation and we will assess honestly.
